The ceremony and reception were held at The Powerhouse in Del Mar. The Powerhouse Building is a well-known
landmark that has played interesting roles in the community during its lifetime.
Built to provide the original Stratford Inn with electricity and hot water,
the powerhouse provided electricity for all of Del Mar until 1918. In subsequent years, the powerhouse was
used as a nightclub (named the Roaring 20's) and as a desalination plant. After falling into disrepair,
the Powerhouse was acquired by the City of Del Mar in 1983 as part of a purchase of the surrounding park area.*
