ORDERING IS EASY:
Samples may be shipped by mail, UPS, Fed Ex, or DHL to:
Reed Laboratories, 3355 Lincoln St., Carlsbad, CA 92008.
- Please include a memo (or our optional order form) with a legible mailing address for our report, indicating tests required for each sample.
- Payment with order is required for all clients, no credit cards. International orders must include payment drawn from US bank, US money order, or US currency sent at sender's risk.
- Send approx. 8 oz. of sample for testing. An 8 oz. (1/2 Lb.) sample allows multiple tests on the same sample.
- Our written report will be mailed on completion.
- Sample delivery may be confirmed any time on request by email to: labfire at lycos.com
- Prices are per sample of dry, naturally-occurring mineral. Other materials may incur extra charge if accepted.
- All assay prices include sample preparation to our requirements for dry mineral at no extra cost - crush + blend entire sample then pulverize up to 8 oz. to fine powder.
- If shipping multiple samples - mark each sample container with sequential numbers, letters, or other mark for identification.
- Please break rocks to 2" or less and allow wet samples to dry before shipping.
SAMPLE PREPARATION CHARGES:
No extra charge for sample preparation for dry mineral samples weighing between 8 oz. to 1 Lb.
Add $6.50 per damp, wet, or hygroscopic sample for drying.
Add $5.00 per Lb. for rock over 2" across for hand pulverizing.
Add $2.00 per Lb. for splitting oversize sample exceeding 1 Lb.
Add $5.00 per undersized ore sample of less than 8 oz. or concentrate below 4 oz.
OPTIONS:
Fax Report:Include fax number and add $6.00 per order for reports by fax to lower 48 U.S. states; fax not available for international orders. This option requires that you have a functional fax machine ready to receive incoming calls at any time at the phone number you provide, or report delivery will default to ordinary mail.
E-Mail Report:Include e-mail address and add $3.00 per order for e-mail reports - recommended for all international orders. This option requires a correct, legible, e-mail address, spam blocking turned off, and sufficient disk space for a small .pdf file, or report delivery will default to ordinary mail.
Hard copy of reports are also sent by mail in addition to electronic delivery.
Weigh and report weight of bulk sample as received: add $2.
Production concentrate samples - Please submit a sample and request quote.
Appointments for in-person sample drop-off are not available.
SHIPPING SAMPLES:
Samples of sand, soil, or small rocks may be sent in thick plastic bags (freezer bags) and shipped Federal Express, UPS, or mailed in a padded envelope or box. Heavy rock samples over 2" across should additionally be wrapped in newspaper, bubble wrap, or cloth and boxed to avoid packaging failure in transit. All samples must be dry for faster turnaround and to avoid drying charge.
Lab turnaround estimates are not a firm deadline; rich or complex ores, or non-geologic materials may require more time. Prices are per sample for basic data reported in ppm, troy oz/ton, or percent. Prices are subject to change without notice. Prices in effect on the date of sample delivery remain in effect regardless of subsequent price change.
All tests are destructive and are not appropriate for gems or other objects of high intrinsic value. Determination of the suitability of data for client's objectives remains the client's responsibility. In event of data dispute, we may retest or refer sample to another lab for retesting at client's expense, at our option. If the purpose of data is to establish a value for a transaction, each party should obtain their own independent assays from different assayers, and also obtain engineering, cost, and feasibility studies before deciding to invest.
Orders which in our opinion may require undue time or expense to process, lack payment or sufficient sample material, clear instructions, may be subject to rejection or delay.
INTERNATIONAL ORDERS AND PAYMENTS:
Please mark sample value: "None", and "Mineral for testing only". Please remove organic material - plant debris, leaves, roots, twigs, insects, etc., from sample material. We recommend DHL or Federal Express for international shipments. To avoid delay and misdelivery, we suggest ordering report delivery by e-mail in addition to report mailing for international orders. International payments can be made by check or money order drawn from a US bank, or e-mail us at labfire at lycos.com for wire transfer details.
EXPERIMENTAL COMPOUNDS, METAL POWDERS, PRODUCTS, OTHER NON-MINERAL SAMPLES:
Please notify us in advance if the sample shipment is not soil material. For experimental powders and other nonmineral materials, we may require the client to include calibration standards with sample shipment, or we may at extra cost obtain or prepare calibration standards specially for such samples. If no standards are available or if processing the order would consume extra time or be economically impractical, then at our option we may either reject the shipment or perform a qualitative analysis reporting only the elements present for the fees paid.
SAMPLE STORAGE:
Sample pulps are stored for 30 days; rejects are discarded. We recommend sending only a portion of sample and retain the balance for reference or future testing.
SAMPLE RETURN:
Add $5.00 per sample for return of up to 4 oz. of prepared sample pulp (powder) by mail, we pay postage. Rejects and excess sample are discarded after report issue and are not returnable. Sample pulps are returned to US addresses only.
Please include payment with order - we accept personal checks, company checks/money orders/travellers checks. (Sorry, no credit cards).
